John M. Tatum, M.D.
Dr. Tatum specializes in a wellness approach to mental, emotional and physical health. He has extensively studied Pschodynamic Psychotherapy, Functional Medicine, QEEG and other specialty areas. He is a contributor to the "Textbook of Functional Medicine" and other publications. He is in private practice in Winter Park, Florida. Past positions include Chief of Psychiatry at the Florida Hospital in Altamonte Springs, FL, Chief of Psychiatry of the Navy Regional Medical Center in Orlando, Florida and Medical Director of the North East Orange Community Mental Health Center in Winter Park, FL Medical College of Georgia 1970-1974; Armstrong State College 1966-1970 (B.S. Chemistry with Honors); The Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital 1974-1977 (Specialty training).
Charmaine S. Frederick, RN, MBA
Charmaine's clinical background in intensive care at Orlando Regional Medical Center.Diploma in nursing from Orange Memorial School of nursing, Baccalaureate degree from Florida Southern College,Masters in Nursing Administration from the University of Florida, Masters in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida.She has held a variety of managerial and administrative positions at Orlando Regional Healthcare in laboratory, radiology, nuclear medicine, respiratory care, emergency departments, and the Level 1 trauma program. Her most recent position was Director of Clinical Informaticsresponsible for physician and clinician adoption of new clinical information systems.Sheretired from Orlando Health in October of 2008.
Charmaine's interestre: In Need Of Diagnosis, Inc. (INOD) stemmed from the difficulty she encountered in getting diagnosed with Parkinson's.
James E. Hardy, D.M.D.
Dr. Hardy has practiced mercury-free Health-Centered Dentistry since 1982. He is a national and international lecturer on the dangers of mercury in dentistry andis the author of the book Mercury-Free. He holds the U.S. national trademark on "Health-Centered Dentistry" and was the first dentist in Central Florida to order the Cerec 3 Cad Cam system that produces crowns, inlays, onlays and veneers in one visit. Sixteen years ago, he was one of the first to have digital X Rays, reducing the patient's exposure to radiation by up to 90%. The last two years (2008, 2009), he has been named by Consumers' Research Council as one of "America's Top Dentists." Member of Better Business Bureau, International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology. Dr. Hardy treats each patient as a whole person, unique and original.
Betty Mekdeci
Betty Mekdeci is the founder and director of Birth Defect Research for Children, a national birth defect information clearinghouse and research organization started in 1982. Betty currently serves on the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences’ Public Interest Group and the coordinating committee for the national Collaboration on Health and the Environment.In 2001, the Orlando Business Journal selected Betty as one of Central Florida’s most influential business leaders for her work on behalf of Vietnam and Gulf War veteran families.She also received the National Gulf War Resource Center’s Outreach and Education Award for excellence in reaching and educating veterans, families, the public and the government about Gulf War Syndrome.The Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine awarded her organization, its Research Innovation Award for creative and ethical research in the design and development of the National Birth Defect Registry.Betty is married to Dr. Michael Mekdeci, Assoc. VP of Stetson University and has two children, Kristy, a high school art teacher and David who is the Assistant Director for BDRC.
Derrick Lonsdale, M.D.
Derrick Lonsdale received his medical education in London England, graduating MB.BS. After 7 years in family practice he emigrated to Canada and thence to Cleveland Ohio where, after residence training in pediatrics, he was invited to join the staff at Cleveland Clinic as a Board Certified pediatrician. His subspecialty was in biochemical genetics. In 1982 he went into private practice, specializing in nutrient based Alternative Complementary Medicine for all ages. Dr Lonsdale has written over 100 articles in the medical literature and two books that are available on line by visiting the Soil and Health Library where they can be downloaded free. His book, "Why I Left Orthodox Medicine: Healing for the 21st Century" is well worth reading.
August H. (Gus) Genetti
Owner/President of the Genetti Hospitality Group (Genetti Hotel of Wilkes-Barre, PA; Genetti Hotel of Williamsport, PA; Genetti Manor of Dickson City, PA)He and his wife, Valeria, have six children and six grandchildren.Gus is a licensed pilot and has had extensive involvement with various nonprofit and community organizations. He currently serves as Secretary Treasurer of the Osterhout Free Library; is a Director on the Executive Committee of the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce; a Director for the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts; Serves on the President’s Council of King’s College, etc. Previously he has served on the Board of the Wyoming Valley United Way; the American Red Cross, Wyoming Valley Chapter; the Northeastern Philharmonic; Director and Chairman of the Pennsylvania Advisory Council; President, Wilkes-Barre Rotary Club; and the Advisory Board of the Little Theater of Wilkes-Barre.
Juanita M. Brown, D.O.
Dr. Brown entered the field of medicine in 1968 with an Associate of Science in Nursing from Vermont College.In 1980, she became a Nurse Practitioner (University of Miami). In 1982, she finished undergraduate studies with a B.S. in Biology from Florida Southern College. In 1992, she attended Nova Southeastern University and became a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.Since 1999, Dr. Brown has been a Clinical Assistant Professor with the Department of Family Medicine at Nova Southeastern University and since 2006 as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor for the Department of Family Medicine at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.She is on the staff of Florida Hospital East Orlando and is currently a preceptor with the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and Nova Southeastern University School of Medicine.
